The RCIPS is advising the public of the following road closures and diversions taking place to facilitate the Lying in State and Funeral Service for the late Benson O. Ebanks, taking place Thursday, 7 April, and Friday, 8 April, respectively.
The new RCIPS Eastern Districts Road Policing Unit commenced duty on Monday 28 March, and spent their first week focusing on traffic movement through the districts' school zones. This included static officers monitoring the zones and issuing warnings and tickets where appropriate.
Just after 7PM today, 3 April, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a single vehicle collision that occurred on West Church Street, West Bay, near the junction of Henning Lane.
A section of Albert Panton Street, from the Cardinall Avenue intersection to just past the Scotia Building, will be closed tomorrow, 1 April, from 9:00AM, to facilitate set-up for the Night Mas event taking place that evening. Access to properties along Albert Panton Street will remain permitted from Fort Street.
Shortly after 3:00AM this morning, Thursday 24 March, emergency services responded to a single vehicle collision on Mangrove Avenue, Prospect. A single male occupant has sustained serious injuries and has been transported to George Town Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
On Monday 28 March, the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit was officially expanded to include a new unit of seven police officers. The unit is being led by one sergeant, PS Joleta Wolliston, and she will have six constables working alongside her to meet the needs of Road Policing in the Eastern Districts.
On 1 February 2022, Inspector Andre Tahal commenced the role of Head of the RCIPS Traffic and Roads Policing Unit (TRPU). He succeeds Inspector Dwayne Jones, who has moved to uniform operation duties within the Service.
