Just before 1AM yesterday, 12 January, officers of the Cayman Islands Coast Guard (CICG) were conducting border patrols when they had cause to stop a local vessel in Cayman Islands territorial waters. A quantity of ganja was recovered and two men arrested.
During the early morning hours of Saturday, 8 January, 2022, the Air Operations Unit, while conducting coastline patrol in the Beach Bay area of the Bodden Town District, spotted suspicious activity. Officers responded and during the search of the area two vehicles were recovered containing a large quantity of ganja.
A man has been arrested following a report of a robbery on the premises of a restaurant on Sound Way, in George Town, on Thursday, 23 December.
RCIPS’ holiday safety operation, Winter Guardian, commences today, 1 December, and will see increased community foot patrols and intensified road enforcement operations, supported by road safety education and awareness campaigns. The operation continues throughout the holiday season and into the New Year.
This morning, Wednesday 1 December, the RCIPS Air Operations Unit (AOU) deployed one of their H145 helicopters and crew to the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI).
Shortly before 10:00PM last night, 25 November, the vessel that had been reported to be in distress earlier that morning was located, having run aground on the reef near Hungry Iguana, Little Cayman. The vessel was recovered and the persons aboard were found to be in good health.
Two men were arrested and charged with llicit Trafficking and Being Concerned in the Importation of Cocaine following the interdiction of a vessel carrying suspected cocaine on Sunday, 21 November.
Cayman Islands Coast Guard can now confirm the identity of the man who went missing from a boat in the North Sound on Monday, 11 October, whose body was recovered yesterday, Wednesday, 13 October.
