As the RCIPS continues in its efforts to encourage persons to relinquish their unlicensed firearms, two more firearms were handed in this past weekend. A pistol and a rifle along with an amount of ammunition were handed into police via a trusted third party, as part of the 2024 RCIPS Gun Amnesty campaign.

The RCIPS is launching a National Gun Amnesty, working with key partners and stakeholders who are taking a stand against illegal guns in our community. The Amnesty will run between 1 and 31 July, 2024, and will allow persons who possess illegal guns, ammunition and any other illegal weapons, to hand them over to the police.

Police can confirm that they have responded to a report of what appears to be an imitation firearm, found by campus security during a search of a school bus parked within the school compound.

A man, age 23 of Bodden Town, has now been formally charged with Being an Accessory After the Fact to Murder, in relation to the murder of Divonte Hernandez that occurred on 29 September 2023.

On Saturday, 25 May, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of an armed robbery in a parking lot on Rock Hole Road, George Town.

Police have arrested three recidivist offenders for burglaries over the past week. Two of these men have been formally charged with Burglary.

The man, age 27 of George Town, who was arrested on Thursday, 9 May, in relation to a burglary in George Town, has now been formally charged with Burglary. He has also been charged with Robbery and other offenses for a separate incident.

Shortly before midnight, Sunday 5 May, police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a restaurant in the vicinity of Shedden Road and Dr Roy’s Drive, George Town.
