Police Continue to Target Mobile Phone Use While Driving, 8 September

The RCIPS has been conducting traffic operations targeting distracted drivers, particularly motorists who use mobile phones while driving. These targeted operations have resulted in a total of 80 tickets being issued for use of a mobile phone while driving, since 11 August.

Public Advisory: Police Warn Against Use of Mobile Phones while Driving, 2 September

2nd September, 2021

With schools now in session, and an increased number of children utilising the roadways, the RCIPS will be conducting traffic operations targeting motorists using their mobile phones while driving. Last week, officers issued just under 20 tickets to persons using their mobile phones whilst driving.

UPDATE: Traffic Collision Involving Pedestrian on Shedden Road, 2 September

2nd September, 2021

Shortly after 8:00PM yesterday, 31 August, officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Shedden Road involving a pedestrian. It was reported that the pedestrian was crossing the road near the Edward Street intersection, when she was struck by a vehicle described as a reddish SUV, which was travelling west.

George Town Man Extradited From the UK, 25 August

A 27-year-old-man of George Town, has been extradited from the United Kingdom (UK) to the Cayman Islands in order to be charged and attend court regarding a fatal collision that took place on 2 September, 2019, in Bodden Town, resulting in the death of 29-year-old Giovani Berry.

Single Vehicle Collision on Rum Point Road, Roadway Now Re-Opened, 2 August

2nd August, 2021

At 11:20AM, attempts are being made to retrieve the vehicle and as a result the roadway has been temporarily closed in that area. There are no alternative routes available and motorists are being asked to avoid that area for the next hour and half while the vehicle is being retrieved.

Police Report no Evidence of Plane Crash at Sea, 2 August

On Sunday 1 August, at around 10.45am a report was received by the 911 Centre of something falling from the sky out over the horizon in line of sight from the Westin Hotel and dark smoke being seen right after, it was suggested by the caller that it might have been a small plane.
