Shortly before 8:00PM on Saturday, 14 November, officers in Cayman Brac responded to a report of a collision on West End East Road, involving a Ford F150 and a pedal cyclist. The cyclist was transported to Faith Hospital by ambulance, and was later transported by air to the Cayman Islands Hospital, for treatment.
A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and other traffic offenses on Tuesday, 3 November, after he was observed by officers, driving in the wrong lane, on Bodden Town Road. Police are reminding the public of the dangers of drinking and driving, and the penalties for doing so.
The RCIPS can now confirm the identity of the victim in the fatal collision which took place on Saturday, 7 November, on Powell Smith Road, West Bay. The rider of the motorcycle which was involved in the collision has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and other traffic offenses.
Just before 12:15AM today, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a single vehicle collision along Seaview Road, In East End. The collision involved a green Honda Civic and as a result of the collision a light pole, along with power lines fell into the street.
As a result of road works scheduled for this weekend, the eastbound lane of Mary Street will be closed to traffic, between North Church Street and Fort Street, from 7:00AM on Saturday, 17 October, through Sunday, 18 October, and is expected to re-open by early Monday morning, 19 October.
Just after 8:15AM today, Monday, 12 October, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a blue Toyota Fortuna and a female pedestrian in the area of Cemetery Road and West End Road in Cayman Brac.
At about 6:40PM on 10 October, officers responded to a collision on Shamrock Road in the vicinity of Poindexter Road, involving a motorcycle and an SUV. The rider of the motorcycle received serious but non-life-threatening injuries, including a serious injury to the leg, and was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital
UPDATE: Harbour Drive has now fully re-opened to traffic. Cleaning of the roadway is in progress and wave action in the area continues. The public is therefore advised to exercise caution, and proper driving etiquette, when travelling in the area.
