Over this past weekend, 25 – 27 March, RCIPS officers responded to multiple incidents where persons brandished machetes during altercations or confrontations, three of which resulted in persons being injured.
This afternoon, Monday 21 March, shortly before 12.30pm, police officers attended an incident on North Side Road, in the vicinity of Old Man Bay, involving a man who was acting erratically on the roadway and endangering himself and others.
Just after 1PM on Friday, 18th March, a joint operation between RCIPS & CBC was conducted at a bar and other establishments near the junction of Shedden Road and Eastern Avenue.
Tonight, Friday 18th March, detectives along with uniform officers, will be attending the Strand Complex on West Bay Road in search of witnesses to the shooting incident that took place last Saturday morning, 12 March, just after 3AM.
The RCIPS is aware of a video that has been posted to social media that includes explicit and harmful content including claims of sexual assault. Police are investigating this incident, and have identified the individual responsible. Police are working with agency partners to provide appropriate intervention.
Just after 7AM on Saturday, 12 March, police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to Destiny Drive in Savannah, where it was reported that explosive sounds were heard in the area. After a brief search in the area, the officers from the Firearm Response Unit attend the location to investigate the report.
The RCIPS is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying two men shown in the provided footage, who were present during a serious assault which occurred outside a bar in the Marquee Plaza on Lawrence Boulevard, George Town, on Sunday, 20 February.
Police can now confirm that the 45-year-old-woman that was found unresponsive at her George Town home address, was pronounced deceased by the attending doctor at the location after which she was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
UPDATE: Police can now confirm the identity of the man who was found deceased on Friday, 4 March, on Eastern Avenue (see below). He is 53-year-old David Samuel Bodden, of George Town.
