The RCIPS has received numerous complaints of motorists who have been driving in an inconsiderate manner on the roadway, and in doing so, violating a number of traffic laws and road code rules.
Since July 2019 police officers have made just over 70 citations for persons driving under the influence of alcohol, with the most recent figures showing that in the month of September alone, 27 citations were made for the offense.
In order to facilitate a candlelight vigil this evening, 7 October, Boilers Road will be closed to through traffic from 7:00PM to 10:00PM. Boilers Road will be closed at South Church Street, however local access will be permitted via Walkers Road.
Anton Bodden Drive will be temporarily closed to westbound traffic between the hours of the 6:00AM and 8:00AM beginning on Monday, 7 October. Traffic travelling westward along Bodden Town Road, towards George Town, will not be permitted to turn onto Anton Bodden Drive during these hours; only local access will be permitted.
The Pirates Week Festival will be hosting the “To Hell and Back” 10K Walk/Run on Sunday, 6 October. The even will begin at Raleigh Quay, travel up to the Hell Post Office, and finish at Calico Jack's. The event is expected to be completed by 9:00AM.
CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank will be hosting their annual Walk for the Cure 5K on Sunday, 6 October at 6:30AM. The event begins and ends at the Seven Mile Public Beach and is expected to be finished by 8:30AM.
CANCELLED: The RCIPS has cancelled the temporary traffic flow adjustments that were to be made in the Prospect, Linford Pierson Highway, and Crewe Road areas during the morning hours beginning 2 October.
The annual DG’s 5K Challenge is taking place this Sunday, 29 September. In order to facilitate this event, Elgin Avenue, between Hospital Road and the former Humber Lane, will be closed from 6:00PM on Saturday, 28 September, until 12:00PM on Sunday, 29 September.
