RCIPS officers were on duty this past Saturday, 29 June, during carnival festivities, helping to ensure a safe environment for all attendees, participants and spectators. Overall the events were well attended with the majority of attendees behaving well. However, officers responded to two incidents over the course of the day.
The RCIPS is launching a National Gun Amnesty, working with key partners and stakeholders who are taking a stand against illegal guns in our community. The Amnesty will run between 1 and 31 July, 2024, and will allow persons who possess illegal guns, ammunition and any other illegal weapons, to hand them over to the police.
UPDATE: The man, age 21 of West Bay, who was arrested following a serious assault at the Trafalgar Plaza on West Bay Road, has been formally charged with Attempted Murder. He appears in court today, 3 June.
On Sunday 26 May, around 8:15AM, police were dispatched by the 911 communication center to a report of a person in distress in the vicinity of Cemetery Beach, West Bay Road.
On Saturday, 25 May, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of an armed robbery in a parking lot on Rock Hole Road, George Town.
Police have arrested three recidivist offenders for burglaries over the past week. Two of these men have been formally charged with Burglary.
A police officer has been arrested on suspicion of DUI and assault ABH and is currently on bail pending further investigation.
While conducting targeted patrols in the George Town area on Friday night, police had cause to observe the movements of a silver Honda Fit.
Police have identified the names of the deceased victims that were involved in the fatal collision that took place on 13 May. Condolences are being offered to the families and friends of the deceased victims.
