Shortly before 5:30PM yesterday, 5 July, officers responded to a report of a person in distress in the waters off West Bay Road, west of Marsh Road. A man had entered the water when he experienced difficulties and lost consciousness. He was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance and subsequently pronounced dead.
Since the beginning of the year, the RCIPS has noted an increase in incidents of theft and burglary of construction tools and equipment. As such, the RCIPS is advising persons involved in construction work of precautions they can take against such thefts.
The man, age 20 of Bodden Town, who was arrested on Friday night, 29 April, after being stopped in a vehicle, has been formally charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (Ammunition) in relation to the incident.
As part of the RCIPS’ ongoing investigations into recent violent crime, including armed robberies and murder, two of the main suspects in the investigation have been arrested this afternoon, 28 April, following a high speed pursuit and interception by the Firearms Response Unit in North Side.
Shortly after 8:45PM, Sunday 24 April, police responded to a report of an armed robbery outside a premises on Shedden Road, George Town, just west of Eastern Avenue. A woman had just exited the premises when she was approached by a silver Honda CRV with tinted windows.

Police are investigating reports of two stolen boats and a report of a stolen boat trailer, received over the past two weeks along with other vehicles which have been reported stolen since the beginning of the year.
Just after 7PM today, 3 April, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a single vehicle collision that occurred on West Church Street, West Bay, near the junction of Henning Lane.
Just after 3:15PM yesterday, 18 January, a number of RCIPS Units attended a residence on Duxies Lane in West Bay to execute a search warrant. The officers were accompanied by officers from the Animal Welfare Unit of the DOA.
