For a better experience on RCIPS, UPDATE YOUR BROWSER. Shortly before 5:00PM yesterday, 15 May, officers responded to a report of a sudden death at the Cayman Islands Hospital. A man had been snorkeling south of Governor’s Beach, when he encountered difficulties and was brought to shore. He was later transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital and pronounced dead.
On Saturday, 11 May, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle, a 1998 Grey Honda Accord, registration #123 125. It was last seen parked at an address on Woodlake Drive in George Town at about 8:00PM on Friday, 10 May, and discovered stolen at about 4:00AM on Saturday, 11 May.
A man and woman of George Town have been arrested and bailed following an incident where officers observed the woman riding a motorcycle without insurance or a license.
Police are requesting public assistance in locating a stolen 1998 Black Honda Accord, registration #170 275. It was last seen parked at the rear of Cayman Falls on West Bay Road at about 4:30PM, and discovered stolen at about 11:00PM.
The Cayman Islands will be hosting the 34th Annual General Meeting & Conference of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP) at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort from 21-24 May 2019.
On 26 April, CoP Byrne received the 2018 ICE Director's International Achievement Award from the US Department of Homeland Security. The award was presented at the US Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica.
Earlier this month, several RCIPS officers participated in a Mass Casualty Incident Management and Instructor Course, along with some of Cayman’s other law enforcement and emergency service agencies.
On Wednesday and Thursday, 27 and 28 March, the RCIPS played a large part in facilitating the visit of Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.
On Thursday 14 March, the RCIPS celebrated the service and dedication of seven officers who have retired from the service former Inspector Winsome Prendergast, former Inspector Livingston Bailey, former Sergeant Clesford Lumsden, PC Mary Reese, PC Leonora Yates, AC Lawrence Woods and AC Elaine Thomas.
Following reports of vehicle break-ins over the past few days the RCPS is reminding the public to avoid leaving any valuables in their vehicles, especially overnight, and where they are visible to passersby. People should also take extra care to park vehicles in well-lit areas with security cameras nearby, if at all possible.
