The RCIPS responded to two reports of armed robberies over the past 24 hours. One incident of Robbery took place in the Savannah area of Bodden Town and the other took place on Eastern Avenue in George Town. Both incidents occurred at business establishments that provide a 24 hours service to the public.
Police are investigating three robberies which occurred last night, 8 December, in George Town.
At about 9:25PM yesterday, 7 December, officers responded to a report of a robbery at a bar on West Bay Road, just south of Seven Mile Public Beach. It was reported that a masked man entered the bar through the rear door, brandished a firearm, and demanded money from a worker there. The man then fled with a quantity of cash.
Earlier this week officers recovered quantities of ganja in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.
The man, age 25 of West Bay, who was arrested in relation to the armed robbery on Hell Road on Monday, 5 December, has been formally charged with Robbery and Possession of an Imitation Firearm with Intent to Commit Robbery. He appears in court tomorrow, 9 December.
RCIPS’ holiday safety operation, Winter Guardian, commenced on Thursday, 1 December, and sees increased community foot patrols, high visibility mobile patrols and intensified road enforcement operations, supported by road safety education and awareness campaigns.
Police responded to three reports of armed robbery last night, 2 December.
Just after 9:25PM on Friday, 25 November, police officers who were on patrol in the Prospect area were stopped by a member of the public at a restaurant located in the area, who informed them of an attempted robbery at the location.
On Saturday, 26 November, wanted man Mitchum Wood was located and arrested by police officers, during an operation in North Side. He has since been charged in relation to a burglary earlier that day. Another man, age 21 of North Side, was also arrested on suspicion of robbery.
